On your wedding day you will be spending about 85-90% of your entire day with your photographer by your side. They will be guiding you through every step of the day! You want someone there you trust, who is organized, and who you can have fun with!
When you love your photographer and get along with them really well you can let your guard down around them. You can crack silly jokes and laugh and have fun! In doing so, you end up with not only amazing and genuine photos, but you'll have an even better experience!
When you've taken the time to get to know the person photographing you, they will know and understand your specific needs and wants. They will know the best way to capture you and bring out your best smiles, laughs, and natural emotions. Plus who doesn't love making new friends?!
As the 2023 wedding season comes to a close, I am looking back at all these amazing behind the scenes images. It has me thinking about how grateful I am that I get to call this my job! One of my favorite parts of the year is looking back on these GORGEOUS days and sharing all of the fun behind the scenes. From Oregon to Washington and even a trip to Arizona this year. This blog is filled with all the fun outtakes, goofy shots, and photos of Chelsea and I working with our amazing couples. For those of you that don’t know, Chelsea is my amazing and talented second photographer. I couldn’t do what I do without her! She helps me SO much on a wedding day and we’ve been called the dream team, which I love!
What a year!
Venture back over the year with me as I show you all of these fun, candid behind the scenes photos from January all the way through December. We even had the chance to experience a couple of new venues this year. What a killer year and wedding season this was!!
It was a tad chilly during this January wedding at the Empress Estate. Fun fact: I shot this wedding only 3 days after returning from a family trip to Disneyland that we drove back from!I attended elementary school all the way through high school with this bride! Peekaboo! The flying veil will always be one of my favorites! Thanks Chelsea for always flying that veil! Believe it or not, there’s hardly ever any wind when we capture these! It’s all a flick of the wrist instead!Gotta keep that dress clean!I always have the timeline synced to my Apple watch! It’s set to alert me 5 minutes before each event of the day!Chelsea is always game to help me test out the light! Notice how the first image above this one has more haze and therefore changes the colors and sharpness of my image? This is why I always want the sun off to the side a little bit. Not only did I go to school with this bride, but her mom was actually our teacher at one point too! I will always help fix hair and make sure you look your best!Chelsea is also great at jumping in and helping direct and pose with me too!I’ll do whatever it takes to get the shot! Even if that means getting on the ground in my cute outfits! Never worry about your dress not being fluffed. We are professionals at this!We are always packing clear umbrellas for those drizzly Pacific Northwest days!Forever my test subject! Thanks Chels!We were added to the seating chart and given our own table! *cue the tears!Testing out that indoor ceremony light!As long as the light is good I can get bridal detail photos anywhere!We got to experience a couple new venues this year! The Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum was so neat with all the planes!What did I tell ya? Laying on the ground is no big thing!Our assistant, Lily, who joined us for a few weddings this year and captured some great behind the scenes video clips and photos for us!Capturing some of those fun candid dancing shots while getting down on the dance floor is so much fun for us!Yep! As long as the light is great I can get detail shots just about anywhere!What it’s like for me working from home after the wedding day is done. They always have to snuggle me! Chelsea is SO great when it comes to capturing some great shots of the groom and groomsmen! She can handle even the silliest or goofiest of guy groups!I honestly have no idea why I was laughing so hard. Aren’t these florals absolutely breathtaking!! I took SOOOO many photos of them!We LOVE getting photos with our couples!Chelsea getting those groom shots while I work alongside the bride getting ready. We love to divide and conquer!I have to get a photobomb in there every now and again! Jovi was such a good pup during these photos!Gotta get the right angle! My couples love Chelsea! She’s the best!I will always make sure we take good care of the dress!Hey Chelsea, I need to test the light for the first dance. This bridesmaid said she just loved us! Of course we had to get a selfie during the reception!This engagement session at the Gorge was amazing!Being goofy at the reception! Funny faces!!This photo on the right was after a proposal session after a long drive into Washington. I had already changed and was ready to hit the road but of course we needed a selfie!We LOVED these guys from 1927 S’mores Company! And, of course, one of our amazing grooms who left me one of THE BEST reviews I’ve ever received! Literal tears, you guys!Oh Arizona, you have my heart! This engagement session weekend was everything!I brought along my friend, Tiffany, to help capture some behind the scenes for me. We had so much fun!This bride became such an amazing and close friend to me throughout her engagement. I just love that my business brings people like this into my life!
