Why you should love your photographer...

On your wedding day you will be spending about 85-90% of your entire day with your photographer by your side. They will be guiding you through every step of the day! You want someone there you trust, who is organized, and who you can have fun with!

When you love your photographer and get along with them really well you can let your guard down around them. You can crack silly jokes and laugh and have fun! In doing so, you end up with not only amazing and genuine photos, but you'll have an even better experience!

When you've taken the time to get to know the person photographing you, they will know and understand your specific needs and wants. They will know the best way to capture you and bring out your best smiles, laughs, and natural emotions. Plus who doesn't love making new friends?!

Lauren + Jacob: A Hoyt Arboretum Engagement Session

January 23, 2020

One of my favorite things ever is when a couple asks to bring along their sweet pooches to their engagement session! Of course I have to say yes. Little Marney did not disappoint! She even smiled for me! We chose to explore a new gorgeous woodsy place for this Hoyt Arboretum engagement session.

How we met

I met this sweet couple after they reached out to me about shooting their wedding this coming August. They drove down from Portland to Salem to meet me at one of my favorite local meeting spots. We chatted about all things wedding at Archive Coffee & Bar and I already knew I couldn’t wait to work with these two!

The Engagement Session

We planned their engagement session for the magical Hoyt Arboretum in Portland. This place is wonderfully lush and green in the summer and early fall. We had a blast exploring this perfect encapsulation of the Pacific Northwest. Marney loved running alongside of us the whole time, barking excitedly at each dog that passed by. The Hoyt Arboretum is a great place for dogs and people who love being surrounded in nature. There are tons of great trails embedded in this lust forest. Lauren and Jacob were so much fun to be around. Their smiles and giggles toward each other lit me up! Their laughter was truly infectious and I found my face hurt after from smiling at them so much! I can’t wait to capture their special day in Oregon City!

Because of COVID-19, unfortunately Lauren and Jacob’s wedding plans had to change a little bit. But that didn’t stop them from having a GORGEOUS intimate wedding ceremony right along the water at a very sentimental Washington location. Take a look at their small, intimate wedding day!
