One of my favorite times of the year is when we get to have our own family photos done! Of course this doesn’t mean it’s super easy to plan or execute. Yes, even we photographers sometimes struggle getting our own families ready for photos. Planning outfits and making sure everyone behaves, especially teenagers who would really rather not have their photo taken. But they know that these are getting done either way. These memories and stages in their lives is so important for me to have and look back on for years to come. They will never be this young again. We won’t always have them in our home with us. One day they’ll grow up and begin their own lives and I’ll have these family photos to remember our once young family. I want to remember how they were and be able to one day show their children.

I am so blessed to have some amazing photographer friends. Some even share a similar photography style to my own! My beautiful friend, Samantha Shannon, took these images as well as last year’s family photos. In turn, I get to photograph her beautiful family, too! I was super excited this year when we got to include little miss Molly! She usually needs a haircut every 6 weeks and I couldn’t get her in before our photos so she’s a little shaggy here. But I love them all the same!

We took these out at one of my FAVORITE locations along the Columbia River Gorge. I usually come here to shoot a lot of engagement sessions. I knew this is where I wanted our family photos this year. Thank you Samantha for capturing these absolutely precious moments for us!! You’re a gem!
