Where are you located? Do you travel?

I grew up in Silverton just a few minutes away and I ABSOLUTELY love the quiet countryside and beautiful area I live in. What a blessing to live in such a place where we are surrounded by breathtaking mountains, the beautiful Oregon Coast and gorgeous painted hills and deserts all within driving distance! I take photos all over the Willamette Valley and Pacific Northwest from the mountains to the coast and everywhere in between!

I love to travel and experience new cultures, meet new people, and see exciting new places I have never been before. I would love to have the opportunity to travel more! I love to tell a story with my work and would love to travel to you or with you wherever you desire to go!

What is your photography style?

I love to draw out color and I am drawn to real, authentic emotion and natural, stunning scenery. I give a lot of direction and cues to keep you moving so you don’t feel awkward!

For weddings, I love to document the day, capturing each detail you have worked so hard to plan and put together. I love to capture the emotions, the timeline and all the special moments in between so you can look back and remember everything you felt at each moment of that special day.

Do you have a second photographer for weddings?

I do shoot over half of my weddings by myself and am happy and confident to shoot alone. I love the feeling of bonding with that couple when I am by myself. When I can move in and out capturing moments easily as though I am just another friend at the wedding rather than a team of people simply there to document the day.

If you are set on having a second photographer I do offer that with one of my wedding packages. If you have a larger wedding I would highly recommend having a second shooter to provide more coverage. Though smaller, intimate weddings are a breeze to cover by myself.

Do you shoot with flash?

I really prefer to use natural light whenever possible as I love the realness that it gives the images. Occasionally I use a reflector to enhance the natural light on your face slightly and to help with unwanted shadows. I will use flash mostly at weddings during reception when it’s dark.

What happens if you get sick or hurt before my wedding or session?

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”3.0.87″ text_font=”Verdana||||” text_text_color=”#8c8c8c” border_style=”solid”]If it’s a session, I will reschedule with you and your deposit will move to the new date!

If it’s a wedding, I do have a limit of liability clause in every wedding contract in case I get sick or something really bad happens that prevents me from being there on your wedding day. If I get sick, I will try my hardest to be there no matter what. If it is severe enough that I cannot make it, I will do everything in my power to provide a replacement photographer for you. If unable to secure a replacement, I will refund you all your money.

Here is what my contract clause states:

“In the rare event that one or both photographers are unable to shoot due to a serious injury, medical reason (including pregnancy), deathly illness or family emergency, a replacement will be found by Joni Loraine Buyes. In the event of such substitution, Joni Loraine Buyes warrant that the replacement photographer(s) will be a competent professional. If Joni Loraine Buyes is unable to make the wedding due to transportation delays, flight cancellations, act of God, national disaster, act of terrorism, fire or other cause beyond Joni Loraine Buyes’ control, all fees will be returned to the Client(s) but shall have no further liability with respect to this Agreement. This limitation on liability shall also apply in the event that photographic materials are damaged in processing, lost through camera malfunction, lost in the mail, or otherwise lost or damaged without fault on the part of Photographer.”

How do I book you?

You can contact me through the contact page right here on my website. I will then set up a phone call with you to go over the details and we can get to know each other. How many photos do we get?

My portrait collections include a specific number of final edited, retouched images. You can always add extras at $15 per additional edited image if you want more!

For weddings: I try and take as many photos as I can during your wedding day. I want to give you the most photos possible. I can typically take anywhere from 1200 to 4000 images during the day depending on the length of time, the events during the day, the size of the wedding, and if there was a second shooter. When I go through them at home I weed out any of the images that are not in focus,  awkward, or may be a duplicate, and edit the rest. Most wedding clients will receive anywhere from 500 and 1200 edited images. I want to flood you with memories you can look back and cherish for years to come!

How long will it take to get my photos back?

Once you have selected your favorites based on the number of portraits you selected with your collection package, I will then send you your final gallery within 1-2 days with your chosen final edited images ready for download.

For weddings: It usually takes 4-6 weeks to finish editing an entire wedding. It states in the wedding contract that the photos will be finished no later than 90 days from the wedding date. I have never missed that deadline!

What happens if it rains?

I usually keep in touch with you prior and keep a close eye on the weather leading up to a session. I understand most people do not want to be cold and wet during a session. As long as it is not completely pouring I am always up for a session in the rain if you are! Otherwise if it is really coming down or you would prefer to postpone, we can simply move you to the next available date.

For weddings: Let’s roll with it! We can try to find indoor spots or covered areas for your portraits but the rain can really add to a wedding day. I have a couple clear umbrellas we can use and you can also rent more for the whole bridal party if you choose! A bride and groom dancing in the rain is so romantic!

How will we receive our images?

For weddings: I will send you USB’s with all the high res edited images and I will also upload them to a private online gallery where you and your friends and family can view them, download them, or order any prints or canvas a la carte in you want.

Can I print photos myself?

Yes! All of my photo packages include either a USB flash drive or digital download option of the images, so if you really want to order prints yourself, you can certainly do so!

Though, I do like to warn people that not all places and photos are created equal. A lot of places will print with strange looking colors or poor quality paper or they will add too much contrast and they will not turn out the way they are supposed to look! I will spend hours editing my photos to look a certain way and poor quality printing completely reverses all of that, which is unfortunate. In light of that, I always recommend ordering prints through me using your private online gallery if you want to ensure they come out perfect. Through there you can order any size, you like using high quality paper, canvas or metal prints, and they all come with a satisfaction guarantee! They will be shipped right to your door for added convenience so you don’t even have to leave the house!

What is your favorite location to take photos?

I don’t have a particular favorite but I just LOVE a gorgeous natural scene. I love exploring and going where I have never been before, finding natural beauty where most may not see it.

I love finding new locations to shoot and particularly love going out to the coast, shooting in the forests, mountains, waterfalls or even exploring the city and shooting along the street, sidewalks, brick walls and alleyways, finding rustic staircases and beautiful bridges.
