Why you should love your photographer...

On your wedding day you will be spending about 85-90% of your entire day with your photographer by your side. They will be guiding you through every step of the day! You want someone there you trust, who is organized, and who you can have fun with!

When you love your photographer and get along with them really well you can let your guard down around them. You can crack silly jokes and laugh and have fun! In doing so, you end up with not only amazing and genuine photos, but you'll have an even better experience!

When you've taken the time to get to know the person photographing you, they will know and understand your specific needs and wants. They will know the best way to capture you and bring out your best smiles, laughs, and natural emotions. Plus who doesn't love making new friends?!

Our San Francisco Getaway

October 2, 2020

There is nothing more fun to me than to hop on a plane or jump in the car and head to someplace new! A new city that we’ve never been to before is so exciting! I love seeing new sights, trying new food, meeting new people, and experiencing life in a way that’s different from our norm. For us, San Francisco was magical! In the 10 years that Anthony and I have been together, this was our first trip alone that involved an airplane! I felt like a kid! Haha!

How it Happened

I was laying sick in bed one day, but still working because I have a problem putting my stuff away and just resting. I saw a post on one of my photography groups on Facebook. Another photographer posted that she would be visiting family in San Francisco soon. She was requesting to get together with a photographer there to have photos done of her and her boyfriend. She even offered to do a swap and take photos too! I thought how awesome that would be to meet up and do a photo swap with another photographer in a different state!

Then it hit me. I don’t live in San Francisco but I’m not that far away. Despite all the comments I threw my name into the ring. DeAnna messaged me back and said she would love to work with me! That’s when we began to plan our weekend photographer meet up trip. She flew in from Colorado and I flew in from Oregon and we met up in San Francisco and made magic!

The Sights

We crammed so much into our short weekend stay and made the most of our time away. Just a few of the highlights:

We ran across the beach next to the Golden Gate bridge, which had quite a surprise when we arrived (read below to find out what that was!).

Of course Anthony talked me into touring Alcatraz which was as equally fascinating as it was terrifying.

I actually got on a boat! Twice! (If you know me you know that I don’t do boats well.)

Fisherman’s Wharf was incredible and I brought out my inner dare devil by coasting through the streets of downtown on a motorized scooter!

We also couldn’t leave without finding the Full House house! My life is now complete.

A Trip to Remember

I will never forget our time in San Francisco. I really felt like I left behind a small piece of my heart. There was so much laughter, so many new things, amazing new friends who we hit it off with immediately! Seriously we are like clones of each other, including Matt and Anthony! This trip filled my soul and I can’t wait to go back!! I’m thinking to plan a girls trip there soon!

Ok, so if you’ve ever struggled with your significant other being super weird and awkward in front of the camera, I can totally relate! You are not alone! Haha! Yes, even being a photographer I deal with this too. I got you.

Yup, he’s taken ladies. This guy is all mine.
This was his reaction right after we realized we also shared this part of the beach with nudes! Some were doing yoga.
To my brides and grooms who know all about “The Nuzzle” pose. I think we nailed it.
I don’t even understand what was happening here.
The super cute Matt and DeAnna!
Oh look. There’s Anthony again. Totally not being a creeper. Haha!
Our awesome hotel and the Apple store. Of course we had to go into the Apple store.
We got on a boat and took a ride under the Golden Gate bridge at sunset! By far one of the more romantic things I’ve ever done!

Alcatraz!

Our short trip across the bay to Alcatraz!
It took a lot to get me in there!
Listening to the audio recorded tour in headphones you could hear all the sound effects of what it sounded like when this place was up and running. Terrifying.

I literally feared for my life on this thing. But it was SO much fun!
The beach where we had our photo session and my first time at a nude beach. We had no idea what we were walking into!
My photography twin!
Aren’t we all cute?! It felt like we had been friends for years!
We finished the night together!
I love that they are as equally as weird as us! Haha!
Ghiradelli Square! Ya’ll know I’m obsessed with sweets and chocolate. Was I really going to visit San Francisco and NOT go to Ghiradelli Square??
The Full House house! My life is now complete.

Like I mentioned, we don’t take trips together too often. This was such a fun treat for us! Between busy schedules and kiddos it can be hard to make time for each other. Take a look at what we do when we’re home!

Thank you! It was so much fun! I know I wish we could do more! Luckily we were able to have this trip right before everything shut down. Hopefully soon we will be able to do more things like this!
