Why you should love your photographer...

On your wedding day you will be spending about 85-90% of your entire day with your photographer by your side. They will be guiding you through every step of the day! You want someone there you trust, who is organized, and who you can have fun with!

When you love your photographer and get along with them really well you can let your guard down around them. You can crack silly jokes and laugh and have fun! In doing so, you end up with not only amazing and genuine photos, but you'll have an even better experience!

When you've taken the time to get to know the person photographing you, they will know and understand your specific needs and wants. They will know the best way to capture you and bring out your best smiles, laughs, and natural emotions. Plus who doesn't love making new friends?!

Kayla + Wesley: A Gates, Oregon Wedding

December 27, 2019

Stunning View in Gates, Oregon

The only thing better than this jaw-dropping couple and view, were all the tear-filled moments that tugged at my heart strings. So many emotions flooded this warm and sunny September day at this private home at this Gates, Oregon wedding. What better view for a wedding than these rolling, coloring-changing hills!

How We Met

Kayla is actually a co-worker of my sister-in-law, Rachel. When Rachel heard that Kayla was getting married she thought to recommend me for her wedding photography! Kayla reached out and we had our first meet-up at Archive coffee bar in downtown Salem. One of my favorite places! We completely hit it off and chatted for about 2 hours! We talked about everything from their wedding plans and their relationship together to life, kids, and everything in between! I knew we were a great fit and she was definitely a Joni Loraine bride!

Emotional Moments

Many of you know that I lost my mom this year and it’s been a difficult season. But it’s allowed me to be EXTRA attentive to are the interactions between a couple and their parents or close family. I’m not going to lie when I say that this gorgeous bride and her sweet momma had me tearing up behind my camera more than once! Such precious moments as this momma gazed at her baby girl about to marry the man of her dreams! Tears even flowed again during a special moment between Kayla and her soon-to-be stepdaughter, Paisley. The way Kayla looked upon her sweet little face and hugged her tight. Oh my heart!

Just when I thought the tears were through, the sweetest father/daughter dance had me going again. Maybe I’m just a sympathetic crier. Having an emotional connection allows me to really focus on those moments that will mean so much to my clients. They should remember what they felt in those moments when seeing their photos. Almost as if they are reliving the day all over again. It’s real and it’s raw and so precious. Whether it’s the bittersweet tears of a loving mother or the uproarious laughter from the bridal party during their tequila shot group photos! I felt so blessed to be present to capture such a beautiful and emotional day. This Gates, Oregon wedding will always have my heart!
