What a better way to end recapping the year than with the best special exits of 2022! I love special send offs! There are so many different ways to execute this on your wedding day. Often the photographer doesn’t stay all the way through to the very end of the reception, depending on how many hours you have them for. But that doesn’t mean you can’t still have a killer exit captured during your time with them.

The Faux Exit

What I’ll recommend to my couples is to do a faux exit. This is where sometime during the reception, right before my time is up, we gather your bridal party and some family together. Sometimes my couples will have the DJ make an announcement and include everyone! We gather them and do the exit just for the photos. This way they fit it into their timeline with me and they can go back to dancing right after. No one will know that the exit wasn’t done right when you exited your reception when they look at the photos!

Sparkler Alternatives

The typical special exit or send off is done with sparklers! They are a favorite for many reasons! But sometimes depending on the venue or the time of year sparklers may not be allowed. There are many alternatives to a sparkler send off! Some of my couples will choose to do something special as they exit their ceremony. This is a great moment to use bubbles or flower petals! Flower petals are my personal favorite as they show up much better in the photos. Bubbles are great too. But if you choose to do bubbles be sure to grab a bubble machine in addition to the little bottles you pass out. The little bottles don’t fill the air with as many bubbles as you might think. Having someone quickly turn on the bubble machine behind you will help add so much more to your background and your images!

If you want to get real fancy you could hire a DJ that also brings along his own sparkler machines!! I had the chance to work with a DJ a couple times this year that had those and they were awesome! They were lit off during the first dance as well as during their special exit. They can be used inside or outside and are cool to the touch. You could also consider doing a quick dance during your exit. A couple twirls and spins and, of course, the dip and kiss is a must! I can’t wait to see all of the amazing exits 2023 holds!
