What a gorgeous year for engagement sessions! It finally started to feel like things were coming back to normal after the pandemic. It filled my heart with so much joy to experience these beautiful locations with these amazing couples!! I had the pleasure of capturing some of these couples’ wedding days this year. And some of these couples will have their special day coming in 2023. While I can’t wait for the new wedding season, I love looking back on what a great year 2022 really was.

Where It All Starts

Engagement sessions are where it all starts. I include one with every wedding collection because I feel that they are VITAL to the wedding experience. They can make such a huge difference on the flow of your actual wedding day. This is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. I pride myself on providing the best client experience I can for my couples and it all starts here. Building a relationship with my couples is so important to me. It’s crucial that you feel comfortable with me behind the camera. You get to see how I handle lighting and posing or prompts.

I love to capture both the traditional poses that the parents love as well as the fun candid sides of you that bring out your natural smiles. We are here to have FUN! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had a groom tell me that he hates having pictures taken. But during our session he actually enjoyed himself and had fun. That I made it easy and effortless. That is the biggest compliment to me! You don’t have to have modeled or even stepped front of a camera before to do this. That’s exactly why you hired me! I’ve got you and will lead and guide you the whole way through, even before we ever get to our location.

I Help You Prep!

I always send out an engagement session style guide that has tons of tips to help prepare you for your session! There is outfit inspiration as well. I always encourage my couples to send me their outfit choices if they need a second opinion! What you wear truly matters in the overall outcome of your images. If you love my style I would highly recommend to follow my style guide and outfit advice to achieve that similar look.

Engagement sessions are also telling me a lot about you as a couple! They are like a practice run for the wedding day. I get to see how you both interact and what poses flatter you the best. I get to learn about anything you may be insecure about so I can bring out the best sides of you. During your wedding day our portrait time will be so effortless and easy because you’ll already know what to expect. You’ll feel like you have a friend there with you instead of a stranger behind a camera. If you aren’t comfortable with the person taking your photos it will show in your images. That’s why I strive to build those relationships and make sure you’re comfortable with me. It will matter in your final product!

Having an engagement session also allows you to use these gorgeous images in your save the dates, invitations, or even displayed at your wedding. It allows you to see how you look in my style and gets you familiar with how my online gallery works. There are nothing up upsides! Plus, who doesn’t love dressing up and going to an awesome location to love on your soulmate while getting to know an awesome person who documents it all?!
