Once upon a time, nestled back into the trees at the edge of a glorious cliff overlooking the Columbia Gorge, sat this enchanted historic manor. The Columbia Gorge Hotel and Spa. Surrounded by 7 acres of romantic gardens, winding pathways along a gentle flowing creek, of which you’re likely to see ducks splashing around in as they swim under the cobble stone-like rock bridges. Full of charm and elegance, lovers have come to wed at this clifftop setting for generations. A grand reception was held in the year of its opening in June of 1921 and quickly developed an international reputation. This elegant oasis, with its jaw dropping 208 foot waterfall on the property, has been visited by Presidents Roosevelt and Coolidge as well as famous actress, Shirley Temple! Now, privately owned and operated, it’s desired for its renowned dramatic surroundings and award-winning cuisine.
It was like a Disney movie!
I’m not going to lie, this enchanting place gave me ALLLLL the fairytale vibes! I’m a bit of a Disney nerd and I’m obsessed with all the princesses. There were times when I thought I was in specific moments of some of these Disney movies! I wandered along the path by the creek and saw the ducks splashing in the water by the stone bridges. I had a vision of The Little Mermaid when she’s riding a carriage through town with Prince Eric. In the gardens I envisioned Cinderella in her gorgeous ballgown, twirling and dancing with the prince. The overhanging trees along the creek made me think of Princess Aurora in Sleeping Beauty. That’s when the prince finds her in the forest along the creek and they meet for the first time!
The Reception Space
Ok, ok, I’m done geeking out on Disney, but what an incredible setting for a wedding!! I could picture so many areas with a beautiful bride and her groom. I could envision a lively reception on the west lawn under the string lights, laughter and music rising up through the trees as the sun set along the gorge. Absolutely breathtaking! If you’re looking for a fairytale-like setting for your special day, look no further than the Columbia Gorge Hotel and Spa. THIS IS IT!
