There is so much that goes into planning and organizing your perfect wedding day! While it’s one of the most exciting and special days of your life, all the details can seem overwhelming at times. Here are a few wedding day tips to help your day run smoother and to help you feel calmer and more relaxed to be able to really enjoy your day!
Make a checklist!
There will be things that pop up in your head as the weeks go by leading up to your wedding day. Things that you think you’ll need, you know like deodorant, extra bobby pins, your detail items for your photographer (shoes, jewelry, veil, etc), sentimental pieces. Write those things down! Even if you aren’t much of a list person, you’ll thank yourself the day or two before the big day! You can run through your checklist and make sure you have everything ready to go so the morning of your wedding you don’t even have to think about it!
Check in with your vendors!
It’s always recommended to give a check in call or send a check in email with all your vendors the week before the wedding. You’ll want to confirm all the details with them. This will give you huge piece of mind and a weight lifted. You can rest easy knowing you and your vendors are all on the same page and they’ve got your back.
Get a Day-Of Coordiator!
If you aren’t using a wedding planner, I would HIGHLY recommend finding someone you trust that you can appoint as your day of coordinator. This will take a huge stress off of you. Don’t have to worry about getting all your tables set for your reception or putting together the last finishes for the day. You should be focusing on getting ready, relaxing, and having fun with your girls! TRUST me on this.
Almost 10 years ago for my wedding, instead of getting to spend more time on my hairstyle, I was literally scrubbing down tables and shucking corn! No joke! If I had only thought about finding and extra someone to help with executing all my details I had chosen. I would have thoroughly enjoyed the morning of my wedding way more and would have been much less stressed. Be sure to check in with your venue to see if they offer a day-of coordinator!

Eat and stay hydrated!
It sounds simple and kind of a no brainer, but you’d be surprised how you could easily forget to do this on the morning of your wedding day. You’re nervous, excited, focused on all the getting ready tasks. You have about a thousand things running through your mind. Sometimes the last thing you’re thinking about is eating or drinking water. But it can make a world of difference!
Make sure to plan for having snack platters and bottled water in the guys and girls getting ready areas. This will help a ton when the ceremony is over and you are all standing through portraits. The smell of your reception dinner wafting through the air and people start getting hangry. That doesn’t make for a great portrait time for anyone! Snacking ahead is especially encouraged if you choose not to have a first look. Because then the majority of your portraits will need to take place after the ceremony and before the reception, delaying your delicious wedding meal.
Make a getting ready playlist!
Put together a fun playlist ahead of time for you and your girls to jam out to while your getting ready! This will fill the room with excitement and help you let loose and really enjoy this special time with your girls. Whether you want to throw in some 90s backstreet boys, old school Whitney Houston, today’s pop or rap, or even worship music! Select songs that are special or fun for the friendship you have with your girls. It’s a great time to reminisce over all the great times you’ve had together. You’re then reminded why you chose these special friends to stand up next to you on the most special day of your life.
Remember, above all, what this day means. As long as you are with your loved ones and get to marry your best friend, at the end of the day that’s all that matters. If you run over your timeline, it’s ok. It’s your day and people will wait for you. Try not to let the little things add too much stress. One of the most important wedding day tips I could recommend is to take a quick moment during your day. A moment for just you and your groom. A moment to just breathe, look into each other’s eyes, and take everything in.
This is great to do during your romantic portrait time together. Usually I give my couples a few moments together during this time. I will back off a bit and shoot with a longer lens. This gives you space but still capturing your true love for each other.
Congrats!!
I hope these wedding day tips help and give you some inspiration for making your day your own. Congratulations on your big day!! I hope it’s everything you’ve dreamed and more!
