Why you should love your photographer...

On your wedding day you will be spending about 85-90% of your entire day with your photographer by your side. They will be guiding you through every step of the day! You want someone there you trust, who is organized, and who you can have fun with!

When you love your photographer and get along with them really well you can let your guard down around them. You can crack silly jokes and laugh and have fun! In doing so, you end up with not only amazing and genuine photos, but you'll have an even better experience!

When you've taken the time to get to know the person photographing you, they will know and understand your specific needs and wants. They will know the best way to capture you and bring out your best smiles, laughs, and natural emotions. Plus who doesn't love making new friends?!

Analisha + Jeremy: A Sunny Columbia River Gorge Engagement Session

August 16, 2022

This July engagement session along the Columbia River Gorge was so special! Analisha is a friend of mine that I know from my church. She had since moved to Arizona and became engaged to Jeremy. So this engagement session was the first time I got to meet him in person, other than our video chats. These two are absolutely perfect for each other and it was so amazing to see how happy Analisha was. Jeremy is absolutely hilarious and has such a fun sense of humor. They compliment each other so well!

This favorite location of mine along the Columbia River Gorge was the perfect backdrop to capture their engagement session. We actually took these a mere few days before their wedding as they flew in the week before from Arizona. We decided ahead of time to plan for their session the week of their wedding while they were here. This is one example of something I love so much about my clients and when they trust me. Even though I know Analisha, it’s something else entirely to know me as a photographer.

The Benefits of an Engagement Session!

There are so many benefits to having an engagement session with your wedding photographer. Even if we do it just days before the big day! Having this experience with them gives them the “practice” they need for us to sail so effortlessly through the portraits on the wedding day! They got to know me behind the camera. They could see how I handle lighting and posing. I was also able to see them together and how they interact. I could see which poses flatter them the most and get to know them as a couple. This is so invaluable for the wedding day!

So even if you’ve already had an engagement session with someone else, I strongly encourage you to do another with your wedding photographer. This is why I include complimentary engagement sessions in all of my wedding collections. I want to get to know you and make sure you’re comfortable with me! After all, you spend about 90% of your wedding day with your photographer by your side. Wouldn’t it feel so much better knowing you truly trust them and feel 100% yourself around them? What better way to do that then to hang out in a beautiful location together?!
