Family Summer Fun; Our New Traditions!

Other than fall, summer is my favorite season. This year, however, summer was quite a bit different and that made it one of the BEST! We began some new traditions for family summer fun! My mother and father-in-law moved back home to Oregon after about 8 years in Florida. Needless to say, we all missed them greatly, even with the few trips a year they would make out here.

Moving Back Home

When my in laws moved back home they managed to buy a home that had a built in pool, keeping the grandkids in mind. Of course, it was a HUGE hit! They loved it! This quickly turned into once a week swims and frequent family bbq’s. Papa even rented a snow cone machine for one!

This summer was what all my family dreams were made of! It kicked off what I feel will be many more memories to be had together. One of my favorite new traditions we started was songs around the fire. After hours of swimming, the kids would get out and wrap a towel around themselves. Papa had a fire going while nana got everything out for making s’mores. (By the way, did you know they now make chocolate filled marshmallows??? They are UH-MAZING!)

A Perfect Ending

Once everyone was settled around the campfire, marshmallow roasting stick in hand, Papa would pull out his phone that was connected to a nearby speaker, and play a song. It was usually old school and awesome, which resulted in a dance party around the fire! Then we would all take turns choosing our favorite songs to play. One night it was nothing but classic rock, yes even from my kids! Haha! There is nothing better than after a long swim having a s’more in hand and rocking hard to Queen to make your summer complete. This felt like the beginning of so much more family summer fun yet to come and I am so grateful to have us all together. Because at the end of day, the most important thing is family!
