Why you should love your photographer...

On your wedding day you will be spending about 85-90% of your entire day with your photographer by your side. They will be guiding you through every step of the day! You want someone there you trust, who is organized, and who you can have fun with!

When you love your photographer and get along with them really well you can let your guard down around them. You can crack silly jokes and laugh and have fun! In doing so, you end up with not only amazing and genuine photos, but you'll have an even better experience!

When you've taken the time to get to know the person photographing you, they will know and understand your specific needs and wants. They will know the best way to capture you and bring out your best smiles, laughs, and natural emotions. Plus who doesn't love making new friends?!

Shannon + Brenden: A Pittock Mansion Engagement Session

January 26, 2020

“I want adventure in the great wide somewhere! I want it more than I can tell!” This engagement session felt like I stepped right into one of my favorite fairytales! And not just because of this incredible mansion that felt like a castle or the red flowers that encircled it. Shannon and Brenden are BOTH beauties and just lit up this Pittock Mansion engagement session with their cuteness!

How we met

Shannon found me through her wedding venue, the beautiful Aurora Colony Vineyards in Aurora, Oregon. This is one of my favorite venues and where I will be shooting several weddings this year. I met with Shannon and her mom while snacking on some bomb bbq chicken quesadillas at The Ram! I loved hearing all about their proposal story at the waterfront in Portland which ended with a surprise party. We quickly found that we were a great fit for her special day. I felt like I had known them for years!

The view at the Pittock Mansion in Portland, Oregon is simply breathtaking. I cannot wait to go back! Shannon recommended it as she frequently runs around this neighborhood. It sits atop a hill that overlooks the whole city with a striking view of Mt Hood in the distance. We had a blast weaving in and out of the crowds of people visiting this historical place. I was in awe of all the pops of color that fall brought to this area! We even hiked around the property a bit.

Beauty in an Unlikely Place

We found a beautiful wooden fence alongside of the windy road leading up to the mansion. I spotted some GORGEOUS sunlight filtering through the trees right by the road. Shannan and Brenden trusted me despite all the cars driving by and the ugly ditch next to us. We ended up with some stunning and intimate shots of these two loving on each other in this glowy light. I can’t wait for their wedding day at the vineyard in all the glow of September in the Pacific Northwest.
